Andrew’s Wood (Devon Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve in the Avon Valley)

Devon Wildlife Trust - Avon Valley Project

The Avon Valley project works with landowners in the Avon Valley, helping them to conserve wildlife on their land, working with them to improve and restore habitats such as wildflower meadows and woodlands. Their aim is to establish as much connectivity as possible throughout the valley by linking land and providing wildlife corridors. The more landowners who join, the more land that can be re-connected, restored and managed for wildlife. Many rare and endangered native species are to be found in the valley, which is why the work of the project is so vital. 5% of our sales will be donated to this project. Prickles in a Pickle Hedgehog and Wildlife Hospital

Run by Judy and her partner Alan, Prickles in a Pickle is a home based wildlife rescue. With a small team of dedicated volunteers they care for injured and sick wildlife, the majority of admissions being hedgehogs. They are a registered charity and rely on donations to care for and treat these endearing creatures. Hedgehogs are vulnerable to extinction, so the work that Judy and Alan do provides a valuable contribution to the long term survival of this species in Devon. They are the only rescue between Saltash and Newton Abbot so are extremely busy. Admissions in 2020 have more than doubled since 2019, in December 2020 there were over 100 “in patients”. Once recovered the hogs, where possible, are released back at the sites where they were found. Sadly quite a few hogs arrive too sick to be saved, but the majority are successfully treated and nursed back to health - some with near miraculous recoveries, thanks to Judy’s expertise and intuitive gentle care. 5% of our sales will be donated to this charity.
